This itinerary provides you with one of the most fascinating landscapes of the vall de Sorteny natural park.

We shall discover this lake, hidden inside the park and surrounded by a lovely landscape full of details.

We set off in the direction of the Sorteny refuge, where we will do part of the route alongside the archaeological remains of the valley's economic activities, such as livestock and agriculture, with their huts, dry stone walls and meadows.

We cross the Estanyó river and climb through a pine forest of black pines and birches, in the direction of the Estanyó strait, where we find a bird watching spot from where you can observe the golden eagle, the bearded vulture and the common vulture, among many others.

We will cross an important marshland and shortly after reach Estanyó Lake (2,340 m). This lake is a fishing ground where river trout are found. In the summer you can often enjoy the company of horses or donkeys around the lake.
