Ordino has been recognized as Best Tourism Villages by the UN Tourism. The seal was presented at a gala that took place on October 19 in Samarkand (Uzbekistan) as part of the 25th session of the UN Tourism General Assembly. This certification accredits the tourism management model, the effort for sustainability and the work of the business fabric and allows Ordino to become part of a worldwide network of towns that share similar characteristics and problems, with which apart from the synergies that can be derived from this collaboration between towns, will also boost promotion, since through this platform the parish's tourist offer will become even more visible.

To grant this recognition, the UN Tourism has assessed that Ordino is an "example of sustainable tourism and environmental responsibility". Thus, it has been taken into account that it has cultural and natural resources of "great relevance" such as Casa Rossell, Casa d'Areny Plandolit and, also, cultural manifestations such as “L'ultima ossa d'Ordino”, which has received recognition as an intangible world heritage within the framework of the Pyrenees bear festivals by Unesco. And in the natural area, places like the Vall de Sorteny Natural Park, core of the Biosphere Reserve.

The effort made in the parish to promote economic sustainability through tourism has also been valued, promoting, for example, through the Ordino Revitalization Table, the stamps of companies committed to the Biosphere Reserve.

Another section that has been taken into account is the work, often together with the Government, for social sustainability and in the end, environmental sustainability has also had a very important weight in the decision taken by the organization, which is specified especially in the measures linked to the Biosphere Reserve, the commitment to public transport or the implementation of renewable energies in public facilities, which also result in the fight against climate change.

In short, it has been recognized that the parish has managed to balance economic development with cultural and environmental conservation and this makes it a benchmark in responsible tourism and a "model to follow in the international tourism landscape".
