The woods of the Tió de Nadal

If you want to know the true story of the Tió de Nadal, the Living Forest of Ordino will provide all the details.

Located in a wooded area of the parish that makes the experience even more authentic, it can be reached by car from the Coll d’Ordino or on foot from the village of Segudet.

The forest is decorated in the legend of the Tió de Nadal of Ana Rico and features a set of themed trees and enchanted pine trees that will enthral the little ones of the house.

Legend has it that in this forest the trees lived very happily and helped the farmers of Ordino by offering them branches in the winter to warm their homes and to cook. One full moon night, a witch was walking through the village and, seeing the happiness of the farmers and how grateful they were to the pines, she cast a curse into the woods demanding that the pine branches stop burning. But the forest was much stronger and the witch did not achieve her purpose, rather the opposite. Stronger, special pines began to grow, with faces and blankets, and very different tió grew from their branches. And these tió helped the peasants even more, for instead of burning them, they offered them food and gifts.
